  • Garage Days 5 - Garage Days vs Predator

It looks like our next jam session will be Saturday 6 April 2019 at 12:00.

As usual, everyone is welcome regardless of level or instrument so if you're in the area around Pretoria, please join us for a fun few hours of music.

If you're keen to join please drop your name as well as instruments into this thread so that we have an idea who is coming. Also, please feel free to bring friends who aren't part of the forum.

So far we have the following suggestions from the WhatsApp group:
Cage the Elephant - Ain't no Rest for the Wicked
Stone Temple Pilot - Plush (Acoustic)
Airbourne - Running Wild

I'd like to add the following from previous jams that have worked well:
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
Just Got Paid - ZZ Top/Joe Bonamassa
Down in a Hole (Unplugged) - Alice In Chains
Highway to Hell - ACDC (wasn't on the list but Claudio started playing it and we sort of joined in)

Please add your own suggestions as well, particularly if they are songs that you already know, it's always good to have someone who can lead the jam.

@NorioDS @slowpoet @guidothepimmp @Lu22 @Hasie @Kklaasvakie

At this rate, we'll soon have a setlist that we could play at the drop of the proverbial.

In principle im in. Geetar...and i might do another throwdown on crazy little thang on the bass.. and 1 or 2 others.

Ermmm.. the STP plush can be electric. Acoustic and electric versions are played the same

Cage the elephant eh? Cool song for sure. Open g tuning?

So I've finally had a chance to actually listen to the suggestions so far and they are very cool. I reckon we should be able to muddle through a version of Ain't no Rest for the Wicked without mucking too much with funny tunings (unless someone is up for a little slide guitar) I'll take a proper look at tabs/chords when I have some time.

Here are another couple of ideas that have been suggested in the past for your consideration...
        Slow Cheetah - RHCP
Eyes of the Panther - Steel Panther (really cool but I think we should only put it in if someone already knows the guitar riffs)

@guidothepimmp do you have anything else you'd like to add? You seem to have a good few songs under your fingers.

Nick the drummer has given me a tentative yes. Once we've got a few more confirmations here I'll chase him to firm it up.

Oh, and I see that I messed up tagging @klaasvakie in the opening post... hopefully this fixes it. ?

Yeti well... as it turns out.. i know how to play eye of the panther by steel panther ?

Im easy... dont mind either way.. we can add hells bells to the mix.

For a slower tune.. elderly lady behind the shop counter. Pearl jam methinks

@guidothepimmp > guidothepimmp we can add hells bells to the mix.

Lol,I got the wrong ACDC song, didn't I? If you can play both let's put in both.

guidothepimmp well... as it turns out.. i know how to play eye of the panther by steel panther ?

          Awesome!

guidothepimmp For a slower tune.. elderly lady behind the shop counter. Pearl jam methinks

          Good shout!

Don't mind me, just adding a pic for the newsletter ?

Yeti I assume this means that you'll be there...

No, this means we have a pic for the newsletter ?

But yes I intend to be there!

            • Yeti replied to this.

              NorioDS ?

Should I get hold of Greg to arrange or would you like to?

Yeti Should I get hold of Greg to arrange or would you like to?

I'd love it if you could!

The Garage has been booked. (Link for anyone who hasn't been there before https://goo.gl/maps/TjwKiJPLi2U2)

                So far we have:
                Nick - Drums
                Norio - Bass/Guitar
                Claudio - Guitar/Bass
                Bevan - Vocals/Guitar
                William Bass/Vocals

That gives us enough to be getting on with but it would be great to have some more people too and doubling up on any of the instruments isn’t a problem.

                Set list is as follows:

                New Songs
Ain't no Rest for the Wicked - Cage the Elephant

                Plush - Stone Temple Pilot
Running Wild - Airbourne
                Slow Cheetah - RHCP
Eyes of the Panther - Steel Panther
                Hells Bells - ACDC
                Highway to Hell - ACDC
                Holiday - Green Day

                Reruns
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen

Just Got Paid - ZZ Top/Joe Bonamassa

Down in a Hole (Unplugged) - Alice In Chains

That should be enough to keep us busy but if there are any other suggestions, please drop them here.

I'm not sure if this is going to work, but here is a Spotify playlist of the songs.

klaasvakie I could possibly put my amp through one of the cabs there and then you can use the code... assuming that other people don't need the cabs.

Are you keen to sing at all of would you rather stick to guitar?

Yeti I'll stick to guitar ? Not sure the world is ready for my singing.
