Turnkey Sale!

AlanRatcliffe · 2009-03-25T10:20:33+00:00

Turnkey has started their pre-stocktake sale. A few good bargains to be had. They have one of the combo versions of my Vox Heritage AC15 for only R8,700 (normally R17,595) and a few other bargains on Vox amps. The modern AC15 CC1 is going for only R3,600. Also lots of studio stuff and software. I zipped and uploaded the Excel and Word files here: http://ratcliffe.co.za/sundry/turnkey.zip (191KB)

Just came back from Turnkey.. very nice stuff, and cool prices too. i plugged a crafter (Les Paul look) into a vox. Doesn't sound too bad Alan. I also tried a Peavey classic 50, very impressive. Definately worth checking out.

Still think I'll go for the Fender Deluxe though..

I'm staying away, cause I know I WILL walk out of there with something new...

Reinhard

Man if I was in JHB I'd be all over that hand wired Vox like a fat kid over a birthday cake.

I just thanked the guy and wished him well, and he promised me a special price anyway ?

Maybe I'm too fussy then. It's possible. ?

...and the problem is?

Well, my Hand wired head and cab came from them last year. All the way for R350.

Nah, I don't think you're fussy, you're just accustomed to all that high end tone you hear day in and day out ? For those of us who have to make do with the bottom end of the scale, a couple of notches up is like heaven ?

I guess it's not the Wharfedale speaker of the AC15CC1 being bad at all. it's probably the Celestion Blue being so great. But @ $230 going rate it had better be...
Sean and me A/B compared the Wharfedale against my Celestion Vintage 10 in combo and there's a difference (the 10 emphasizing the bass more, having less chime and I suppose a little more efficiency) but really not enough to justify the price difference when new. Some of the differences could also be contributed to the new speaker not having loosened up enough. If I were Sean I would play the Vox happily.

That's probably very true. They're buggers to break in, but once they do...

Reinhard

Damn Allan, that AC15H is haunting me, and it's not like I need another amp ???

AlanRatcliffe

I can only say it's highly recommended. ? I use one myself, but the head & cab version. Wouldn't use it for metal, but for classic rock it's wonderful. A nice foil for Fender amp type sounds - the two seem to lock together very nicely without dumping on each other.

I had a thread going at the time I bought mine - if you haven't seen it already: http://www.guitarforum.co.za/general-discussion/incoming!-vox-ac15h1tv-amp/msg8867/#msg8867

Mojo JoJoe bought himself the combo version too.

damn damn damn i managed to miss stopping off there this morning..... i had a 2 o'clock wedding i was performing at today ..... and had to set up before 1 ... so i happily left early and had all intentions to go to turnkey and check out the sale goodies..... i had my eye on some skb cases..... then thanks to bad mismanagement by the construction company the N1 highway was backed up from william nicol all the way to 1km short of beyer's naude....cos all the lanes were forced into one lane........ how silly...... i sat in traffic for over an hour longer than the trip would have taken me....... so i missed out stopping off and i drove right past the offramp .... it was so tempting but time was not on my side by the time i reached malibongwe .....

right so a nice new skb case will have to wait a bit...... i was looking for a 8 unit rack case the one that has the trolley built into it....and possibly another classical guitar case....

oh well i'll wait for Toms or marshalls sale hehehhe they all coming shortly ...

peace and light
Keira

Sean

Eish, I could have mentioned that, sorry Keira. From Sasolburg to that offramp took me 45 minutes (90km), from the offramp to Turnkey it took me another 45 minutes (0.5km). That was on Thursday. Really don't know what they are doing there, but it's not working.

The Tele is a nice tube. For my tastes, a very close second to the Philips I have in now. Both are much better than the stock - a lot more clarity and definition, and no trace of microphonics. The Tele is a bit more balanced and polite, while the Philips is a bit raunchier.
