  • Samick Artist Series Dreadnought Accoustic

I recently acquired a Samick Artist Series acoustic guitar. It was manufactured in Korea in 1999. I can find almost no information of it on the internet. It seems a very decent guitar. Good action and very nice sound. I don't think it came out with pickups but the one I bought had pickups and tone and volume control installed. Anyone on this forum have one or have knowledge about them? If so, what are they worth?

Lochnut I've seen one before (not the artist series though), with that pickup installed at the 19th fret - actually sounds pretty good when plugged in - IIRC, we ran some fx thought the pup and it sounded slightly like a strat neck pickup? Probably a aftermarket install though.

Worth? Well, the artist series is the upper end of the Samick range - But, I'd say not a great deal, it's got a Samick logo...I guesstimate around 2-3k depending on the buyer.

V8 Oh so it did come out with pickups. My sentiments exactly, it sounds a bit like an electric.

I'm not entirely sure, but I've seen a identical setup on a Samick before. Worked well, I wondered why it wasn't something I'd seen before.

Blend that with a piezo pup and it's a unique, very usable tone.

V8 The only photos I could get off the internet are clearly without the volume and tone knobs.

Although it's 3 years later I also recently purchased a Samick Artist Series accoustic and am having trouble finding out anything about the model. The label and serial no. tell me it was built in Korea in 1995. I'm confident the 19th fret pickup and controls are original as the seller purchased it new and knows its full history.
