Thanks to @Yeti, we've our first challenge of 2019...

The 3 Chord Challenge

? Entries Close: Sunday, 3rd February, Midnight

?Rules: Only one rule, use 3 chords. I'm going to leave it open to interpretation, Perhaps it's a two chord verse and a one chord bridge or just three chords all the way through. What I will encourage is chord inversions to get the most out of your three chords.

Collaborations are strongly encouraged, either with a fellow GuitarTalk member or friends/family/etc...

Depending on how many entries we get - we may split voting into groups - perhaps on have one for cellphone/lofi entries and one for more studio orientated entries.

⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply.

?Prizes: The fame and glory of winning a GuitarTalk challlenge. And the dubious distinction of choosing the next challenge.

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too.

Allrighty-e-o,

I did a bit of jamming - got enough bits of chordy lego to go and build a song. Tryyying to start as little earlier on this one - I'm enjoying the simplicity of three chords ?

Not that I'm only playing 3, but the progressions basically work off three (or less) chords - maaayybee a passing note here or there - but it's all in aid of a a groove... ?

While scratching around the articles earlier, I found this one on the I-IV-V progression, might help spark a bit of something; https://community.guitartalk.co.za/d/26865-the-most-common-three-chord-progression-holds-the-key-to-many-genres

I've got the skeleton of mine down. Going with a standard 12 bar blues, nice and simple.

Late as always, thankfully @Yeti's morning submission got me to get at this a few hours earlier than I would have, Maybe I was aiming at Gorillaz vs Goldfinger/Blink182 - who knows?

G#, C#, F with a occasional bend into G# from G. Minor -> Major change in the 2nd verse by going A#, D#, G. Inspired by the crappy pop I was jamming to on ChordU :facepalm,:

Thanks for the entries @Yeti & @studmissile - i'll get the voting thread up in the am ?

@Yeti ...... abysimmal .... artisinal Bhwahahahahaha. I was wondering how you were going to save that! Brilliant!

The excitement in the voting thread is overwhelming ?
