lindsmuse Watched this last week, 4mins very well spent ? - enjoyed his perspective, been thinking a lot about timbre/colour (I called it textures) recently. Applies to all instruments - though I really noticed it on bass and acoustic.

Which is something I'm trying to exploit in the 4 note challenge. Operative word is trying

V8 assuming 4 note challenge is on the site? Good luck with that - haven't followed the challenges in a while. Yes I think it would be a great exercise to really focus on the variety of sounds you can on guitar. These guys - him and his composers must have had such a wonderful life , immersed in the guitar like this - getting into all the subtleties and finer things about it. It really is an extraordinary instrument.

It's actually an English word too. It's widely used in classical circles. No one talks about the "tone" of their cello, for example. Tone is a synonym though, so you're not entirely wrong. I mean, it's a valid observation for non-classically-trained guitarists.

Note the "i" is supposed to be pronounced like an "a".
