  • Cape Town Jam at Kill City Blues (9th Sept)

In case you thought the Jozi/Pta crew were the only ones organizing GT jams...they are!

But...I've been waiting for KCB to organize a open jam, because I'm cheap and I know herding cats ain't my thing ?

Being Cpt, peeps usually only pitch for the jams from around 2ish onwards (if at all), so if we're early , we get a couple hours for mahala. If you don't feel like dragging along a amp, they do amp hire for R50/session too (there's a Vox AC15 and a few other beaters available).

What I do like is that you can pitch up & leave whenever you like, no locking up or admin required. For me that's a unmitigated win. Loads of parking, easy access, there's a bar and snacks available too. Plus a outside area for a impromptu acoustic jam too.

Little update : I might have organized drummer to come and drop some beats.

    T'was a epic 6hr jam!

Started slowly, just me banging bass and a mate with his killer katana + gibson sg combo. I'm even (if possible) more impressed with Katana 50w. Had no issue cutting through the mix and had plenty volume left - easily was the best sounding rig of the day. There was a sweet fender excelsior and a line6 paired up with a gt1000, which both sounded real good - but my choice was the katana, everything it did sounded killer.

At the end we had 2xDrummers, 3xGuitarists, 2xvocalists and 2xbassists all playing along - from beatles, hendrix, sabbath, many blues jams, indie and a surprising amount of funky jams (maybe I shouldn't be surprised, I was hitting the autowah as much as possible :p)

If you were undecided, make the next one in a months time. It was a blast.
