I thought it might be fun to share our stories of horrible things our "loved ones" have said about our playing ?

Sometimes the ones who loves us the most, show it the least ?

When I bought my classical guitar about 14 years ago, my missus was with me. She had heard me playing a bit. And she was my girlfriend at the time.

So this guy I'm buying the guitar from, he "demos" the guitar for me. Plays some beautiful Creed and other things.

Wifey says, "Now THAT'S talent!"

I've never been able to forget that ?

What's a kak thing YOU'VE heard from a loved one about your guitar playing, singing, etc?

When I started playing guitar and singing, my sister and I would do duets with me playing the guitar. My dad walked in and said he thought the goats were hungry and screaming for food.

Major confidence boost that

I've had a few. The most recent was with the 'bending' challenge. I was playing with headphones and a backtrack and it all sounded pretty good. So wifey walks in, I unplug the headphones and let rip. Her facial expression was something along the lines of "WTF" and then she said it sounds like a sad depressed funeral song.
I of course explained that it's a 'style' thing.... ?

My brother hit me with:

Him: "You should go play on the radio"
Me: (Thinking I'm awesome) Really?
Him: "Yeah, then at least I could turn you off"
Me: ?

My greatest burns came from guitar teachers...

Blues teacher : "I think you need to go play bass"
Flamenco teacher : "You have the rhythmic sense of a fish, flopping around, out of the water"

V8 Blues teacher : "I think you need to go play bass"

Could have been worse.. he could have been told to take up drums..
