So I was pretty active on the forum for a while... Taking part in the monthly challenges and learning and growing as a musician.

I decided to take my part time business full time. It sort of worked, but then things didn't work out. I spent a whack of time working IN the business instead of ON the business. That was my 2017, work work work work.

I continued jamming in my local church on Sundays. It was cool... And it's great to serve and be part of something bigger. But I have always wanted more (for the last 10 - 15 years I've been playing).

In 2017 I was involved with two different bands that both lasted like 3 weeks.

Band 1 was an existing band that needed a new electric guitarist. I joined them for a couple of practices and started learning their songs... at the third practice they disbanded... That sucked.

Then came along "Band 2", which was started with two people I knew and one I had never met. The band lasted 3 practices and then disbanded. I struck up a friendship with the new person I had met who was to be the lead singer/song writer.

Over the last 6 to 8 months my new buddy and I have been discussing music and making something happen, even it was only a 2 piece acoustic jol. He was in a band YEARS AGO that was doing semi ok on the local band scene. He felt like it was time to "reboot" said band.

So that happened. I'm now in an afrikaans grunge/rock band called "Errand is blomme". We've had 4 practices, so we've broken the 3 practice curse.

I'll try put updates and stuff on here. Keep rocking!

Congrats bud! Great to hear something is moving forward.

I think a lot of us can relate to being in a band for a handful of practices and things just fall apart. Sometimes the people don't gel, sometimes the music isn't right for everyone, sometimes no one is serious... there's just so many reasons it can't work.

What's great is that, even 3 practices teaches us that a band is fun as heck and gives us an itch unscratchable by anything else. So if that's all those other bands did for you, it was well worth it ?

Hoping your band goes from strength to strength!

We've had a few more practices and have started reworking around 6 or 7 of the old song as well as working on some new material.

We've even started creating a social media presence.

Good news: There are still old fans that are excited that the band is "having another go"
Bad news: The pressure is on, I'm playing catchup and learning songs without chord sheets and just some recordings of the songs... But I'm getting there.
