VOX Adio Air GT 50W
Is there anyone with hands on experience with the VOX Adio Air GT 50W and can comment on its suitability as a home practice amp where I can plug in or play along with using bluetooth through my phone/PC. I practice using earphones as not to desturb the neighbourhood but now and then want to "make some noise".
I have a Laney LX20R for the guitar, but have to play the songs through my ancient hi-fi (pre- bluetooth don't laugh) plugging my phone into the aux socket. Matching volumes of the two then becomes an issue from song to song. The Laney is very sensitive on the volume and goes from a whisper to high volume in a jiffy and then I find myself fiddling with the guitar volume again. I spend more time matching volumes than anything else only to find that when I'm ready to play it is all too loud.
I have also noticed that Line6 has a similar product, but also in a different price range.
I also am sceptical when using an App to control things as Apps end up being cluttered with ads, gets updated and sometimes for worse etc.
Any input will be great.
I have previously asked for inputs on another matter and really got help quickly through this forum. Thx for that.

    Hi dolos

I have the similar Line6 product (Amplifi 30) as a practice amp. Looking at the features of the VOX, the Amplifi seems fairly similar.

I love my Amplifi for practice, being able to pipe in music from your phone or laptop or even an AUX cable is brilliant and it also acts as a USB recording interface which means you can easily record and listen back to how much you suck.

The Line6 app is quite good, very intuitive and very similar to the interface on the Line6 Helix. That said, I think you will need to accept that Line6 might stop updating the app for every new android version so it might be a problem 5-10 years down the line. This is probably not an amp you are going to leave your kids.

They also do a Amplifi TT which doesn't have a speaker and plugs straight into your Hifi (this will also have the side effect of bluetooth-enabling your ancient Hifi). There is currently a second-hand one on SAMIS for R3k

If you are in the Bryanston area you are welcome to come have a look at mine. I probably spent 2 hours at Marshall Music fiddling with mine before deciding to buy it. (I downloaded the app in-store and made sure I was happy with it).

w.r.t. the tone, the cleans are good and the bluesy stuff is nice, but the high-gain stuff could be better. That said I has PAFs in my guitar which aren't recommended for major high-gain chops.

The Amplifi 30 is loud enough for the bedroom, but can't really be used for anything bigger. If you do decide to come check it out, name a song, I'll practice it and we can try to jam it together.

    Thx Klaasvakie.
I will read up on the Amplifi TT for sure. Yip, you are correct- updating of the App seems to be a concern and having a product with half its functions obsolete in a couple of years is a problem.

dolos I bought mine about 2.5 years ago and it was kind of the only thing of its kind. Nowadays there are many more, so if you are searching for an app-controlled amp, there is also the Boss Katana and Positive Grid which both get good reviews. I think the Yamaha THR10 and the Fender Mustang also received app-control in their latest revisions.
