Hiya guys,

I played a Morris (MIJ lawsuit, 70's/80's) in December and it was a sweet player, but what really impressed were the pickups. Had a single coil-sque clarity to the cleans and a very gainy feel when the distortion was cranked up. So much gain that it made the humbucker'ed guitars seem anemic! I thought R5k was a tad excessive for me to experiment with this one (guitar was too mint for me to mess with)

From the little I know fo P90's they're a single coil design with a some technical differences . From what I've read, the sound is between a SC and HB. More low end and beef than a SC and more high end than a HB. Almost all mention the mid range bump is quite pronounced

All I know is that I liked it, lots!

Two questions : What would be a decent P90 to consider (E.g. Is there a P90 equipped guitar that worth considering or do I drop some P90's into a Cort?)

How does a P90 differ from a Gretsch style filtertron?

    I have a P90 for you... ?

P-90 are single coil. Hot single coil. Bar magnet instead of the smaller mags used in fender single coils.
    Filtertrons are low output humbuckers.

      Norman86 . Hot single coil.

TIll I tried that Morris, it's not something I noticed - I read many articles, but nothing quite said it like that - that makes sense - thanks Norm!

I'm not yet shopping with intent - I've tried a few lp's with P90's (inc a genuine goldtop gibson) but never took to them. But this Morris copy was great - just prefer the feel of a strat rather... ?
