Fender/Squier spares order
dscoetc
Hi,
I couldn't find anything specificly related to what I'm looking for, but seems that in US you caan order via part numbers from Fender specific pickups that they use in their guitars. Here's what I'm hoping someone could direct me. I want to find out what it would cost me to order the neck and middle pickups from the Squier classic vibe 60's strat. There are rumours that these are made by Tonerider and apparently in US you can order them off a parts catalogue from Fender and it turns out way less expensive. I'm holding thumbs that we have someone in South Africa that can do this, if so who do I contact. There are other pickups I'm interested in as well, like the Squier vm tele deluxe wide range humbucker I want to order for a friend.

As fate would have it...this is a question I researched about two weeks ago!
Yes it is possible to order Fender 'warranty' replacement parts via the local distributors - they don't carry stock locally and they'll have to source from Europe. I havn't seen the parts, but I'm told they are delivered w/o any branded packaging.
The quote I got was +/-R535 per single coil pickup.
The rumour is that the CV strat pups are made on the same production line as the tonerider surfari's - I can't say for sure. I need a Pbass pup for my project bass and it seems I can't find a 2nd hand pup, so I'll have to go for the CV pbass pup.
If you are keen chat to Graham at the Gear Junkie - he has the details from my query and will be happy to sort you out.

. Bottom line, they come out of the same factory, and _might_ be made to the same specs
