  • Gear Junkie Builders Day 2016

Calling all instrument builders, from your garage hacker to the pros. Put the 27th August in your diary and pull into The Gear Junkie. Our last Builders Day in 2015 was a great success. Check out the video from it here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGFZrZAJkQs Last year there were great builds from Lapdawg, Rikus, Wizard, Danienel and I even had a few clunkers there. Hopefully the bar will be raised by some of the professional builders that are attending...keep an eye out for more details. Expect much chat, ohhhing and ahhing, a jam or three and a few surprises...

Yip, I was there - would have been a bit of shame to miss it since I was one of the organizers... ?

Was a grand day of socializing and swapping stories and info - a few spontaneous jams through the day. Different to last year, but that's part of the charm, you never know what's gonna happen. There were basses, tele's, homebuild's and some DIY stuff (amp, footpedals) - though it was less DIY and more social than last year.

We might not have to wait a year for another one though, Rockit Distribution had a display with a LOT of cool parts n stuff (Dimarzio, Graphtech, D'addario, etc..) - and they *might* get involved a bit more for the next one. We'll see. TerryD was supposed to stock some parts, but had ZERO stock (grrrrr). On the 'pro' builder side only Graeme Hayward could make it - but he brought along the 'Gryphon' - what a build! Maybe we'll see Brian Fanner, Casimi and a few other missing junkies at the next one...

My favourite thing of the day were Wizard's Marimba's - especially the resonator one, beautifully made & soooooooo much fun.

There was a bit of video shot and there's a few more pics that'll go up on the gear junkie's FB page - it'll get processed, edited and posted over the next week or so.
