I have a Laney Extreme Mxd120, the standard one with a single speaker.
The crunch channel is faulty and I've been trying to troubleshoot it without any luck.
I originally bought it on the basis that it had an issue, but opened it up right away and gave it a clean up, and it's been fine for quite a while now- maybe 6 months or so. But now the issue the previous owner spoke about has set in.
Symptoms are, with the master volume knoppie set to normal levels, there is no volume till you crank the crunch knoppie way up. Then if you turn up the master volume you get massive hum and feedback etc.
The crunch and master volume pots have been cleaned with contact cleaner several times. The circuit board has been cleaned and inspected with a magnifying glass. Based on advice from the interwebs the FX channel jacks have also been cleaned.
Is there anybody here with any insight on this issue that can advise on what to look for under the bonnet please? Not sure if it just needs a crunch pot replacement or if the problem is elsewhere. The pot looks unusual and is probably hard to come by so I don't that mission if the fault is elsewhere

Never mind. I assumed the problem was in the crunch part of the circuit but it turns out it was further along the chain and related to the master volume. Fixed. Info and tips are hard to come by on the net but I got hold of a schematic and just followed it in a process of elimination. The old saying if you want it done do it yourself
