The word "best" can be scrutinised, I know.

After getting back into playing guitar recently I am wondering whom I should use to do setups or repairs on my guitar.

I am in Melville, but I'm willing to travel for a tech with a good reputation.

Or if you think local music store is good enough, let me know.

No suggestions on techs at all?

It would be great to have a sticky with a list of all techs.

But perhaps this is a sign that I should learn to setup my own guitar.
I have electrics and acoustics. None in need of a setup at the very moment.

But in general I'd like to send my guitar to the same (very good) tech every time.

Though I might go the learning myself to do a setup route now.

If you have a tech to suggest though, please do.

EDIT: Basically I just don't want to receive guitars that have just had a "setup", but still have fret buzz.
There's a sticky with luthiers here somewhere, we can argue who's best later

Thanks, I might get in touch with him for the next setup.

Ok, I'll have a look for the sticky.

          Yes, "best".

As before though, what I really want is someone that can setup a guitar without it having fret buzz issues. Should be simple enough right, but every guitar I get back from a setup has fret buzz somewhere (of not a few places) on the neck. If for some reason it is impossible for x guitar to have no fret buzz the tech must tell me that and explain to me why it is so and how I can get to a point where I can rid myself of the issue (i.e. does it involve buying a new instrument, doing a re-fret or simply going to another tech).

So I got another guitar and set it up myself. I learnt from watching YouTube videos (specifically Wills Easy Guitar channel). I had some issues getting the intonation good and there is still some fret buzz here and there, but in general I am satisfied.

Now I just want to get some proper luthier tools for setup - straight edge, fret & crown files. Does anybody know if I can source such tools in SA or is StewMac the place to go? Regarding the straight edge I was thinking I'll just buy a straight edge at a hardware store or perhaps a steel supplier can help.
