Hi Guys, I am not quite sure what to ask for. I want to play the electric guitar through my loose laptop speakers via the Rocksmith cable. I would have to download some sort of media player in order to do this? You can deduce from my clumsy question that these things are not my forte ☹
Well you could run it through audacity with monitoring to speaker out on, with the Rocksmith cable as the mic input?
It works best when you have a DAW, which you can use to record. I found using the ASIO sound driver and changing a few settings in windows I could get mine playing with the Rocksmith Cable.
You can do this but it's going to suck. I know, I've tried. You need good speakers or headphones to make it sound nice.

Basically, what you need to do, download an amp simulation VST (Le Pou for instance). If it comes with speaker simulation then you're good to go else get Redwirez's free version. There's more instructions on their site about how to get it to work. Then download Reaper, if you have a mac, then Garageband will work, that's what I use. Then load everything into reaper, tell reaper to use your cable as input and the system default as output and switch on monitoring.

+1, Reaper is gold and not to hard to figure out. If I remember correctly, Reaper has some kind of wizard to help you set up your audio devices. It also has a built in guitar amp, but that's not very good. there is also a plug in called /http://www.studiodevil.com/products/british_valve_custom/ but I don't think it works with reaper for some reason, but then again I'm on a Mac and sometimes stuff just don't work right.
