  • Elk ES-40 2x10" combo R2500 - Amazing condition!!!

Hi Guys

Elk 2x10" ES-40 combo, 2 channel, reverb, trem. 2x Mullard EL34, GZ34 rectifier. 2x Alnico 10" speakers Excellent condition, a real looker. Even still has original footswitch! Full working order, although a cap job and new output tubes would be a good idea in the near future, it is 40 years old.

What it is - A killer clean tone at a great price.
What it isn't - Not very loud, studio/home use only. Would probably benefit from new more efficient speakers.

        I'm in Kensington B, right by the Sandton Clinic. Only snag is the amp is in pieces at the moment, replacing some of the electrolytic caps.

          Right, just an update on the amp:

          I've replaced all the electrolytic caps (2x 50/50uf 500v filter caps, 5x 47uf cathode caps and one 47uf 63v bias cap), as well as upgrading the 2 prong cord with a 3 prong to actually earth the chassis. The cap job has shown there's more life in the EL34's than I thought and firmed up the low end a bit. And lastly I changed the speaker out from hardwire to a jack to give you the option of connecting an external cab. The chassis had a ext speaker out, but the output transformer is rated for 4ohms and ins't switchable, so connecting another cab to the hardwired speakers would have strained the power tubes and sounded less than stellar. This way, you disconnect the internal speakers and hook up the cab of your choice, which makes it more than loud enough for gigging.
