Finallllllyyy - got around to finishing this project up (or so I hope!)
Here's two sound clips, one without any processing (eq/other). Excuse the crappy playing, I'm well out of practice on this beastie. It's a really articulate instrument, any mistakes and you'll hear them - very clearly! I couldn't get a acceptable classical fingerstyle - I did do three different takes - 1. Kinda fingerstyle (fakemenco), 2. Jazzy chording (fingers), 3. Hanger18 (fingers, trying to nail the triplets, ala Gabriella Y Rodrigo).
What impressed me was that the treble strings are more prominent in the mix than my other attempts at recording piezo equipped nylons and the sustain (end of clip) is surpringly good, way better than I thought it would be.
And one with some processing (EQ/bass cut, Reverb, Compression)
This wouldn't be complete without pics...
You can just tell there's nyon string in the last pic, it's a very stealthy build.
Would I do it again? Yes, it (imho) really does work well. But it did need the higher tension strings - it's rocking D'addario Pro-Arte High tensions, which I reckon is down to the saddles needing more pressure than the medium tension cheepies I had on while testing. So far, It's been played by two very good guitarists (E.g. not me ?) and they made it sound amazing. But you need some seriously skilled fingers, the piezo's pick up any mistake and the string spacing takes a little getting used to if your technique is sloppy (like mine!).
Classical guitarists looking for a more electric feel will love it I reckon. And being piezo you can effect it to your heart's delight and there'll be no feedback!
I've parked it at the Gear Junkie, so if you wanna give it a play, pop in and wail away ?
