everything has its upsides and downsides, list the downsides of your gear (if any) ?
Fender FM65R amp, loud enough but plagued by that stupid fender amp trait of 0 is off and 1 is too loud to play at home >☹
my 80w marshall used to swell up quite nicely from 1-3 then over 4 it started getting its lungs

I just hate it when the battery for my Acoustic Guitar preamp runs down, and it always does when I really need it. I usually have half a million spare 9v batteries all year round till i need the thing

Fender use all linear post to keep the prices down. Swap the volume pot for a logarithmic taper of the same value and it'll make the volume change a lot smoother. ?

Nothing that I can think of. If it's not right I try fix it, If I can't fix it I get something else. ?

Mmmm.... <thinking>
I have the same problem with my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp. Between 0 and 1 nothing and then 1 is too loud for the house. Especially if you need to play at night and the baby is sleeping. (That sort of thing gets frowned upon for some reason, then the verbal warnings start.) :'(
The finish on the acoustic gets very dirty very quickly. You touch it once and your fingerprints show. I hate that... :-\
That is about it.... ?

Fender bassman: to loud and to heavy.
Proco rat: to fuzzy sometimes...
Line six echo park - does not have a looper.. (maybe I should have bought a looper)
Cort G260 - 2 red

Same in my house, and I can't understand why because the baby really enjoys it a lot when I play ?
Downside to my equipment:
1. My all software setup that runs on my only PC that has tons of other stuff installed and stored...I'll need to invest in a dedicated music PC.
2. The complexity of the software, and the zillions of possibilities it offers leads to hours and hours of tweaking and fooling around, instead of playing and practicing... :-[ I think I got too much stuff in a short time...keyboard with several software synths, Guitar Rig, etc. and it's a bit overwhelming. It's all too easy to get so caught up with the technology stuff and to neglect playing... :-[

He, He... My wife will shout "turn it up!" from the other side of the house and if I'm doing something she likes the sound of, she'll come to jam. ?

Granted - but I can attest that the weekly challenges help cure you of that.

Yes, it got me playing a lot more the past two weeks but sadly I didn't manage to come up with even as little as 60 seconds of something... :-[...a serious self discipline and focus problem here! But I'll keep on trying until I get it right!

My rig = lack of pedal tuner. And can sometimes be bass heavy which can be avoided but not when stupid stage techs touch it and move it.
Otherwise Main downside is it's versatility. It's kinda strictly OD only or plain clean.
I'd really like to be able to have a lot of options regarding tone choice and be able to play everything through it.

My guitar (Ibanez) - neck/fretboard too narrow
Left hand - fingertips too fat

* Les Pauls are too heavy and tend to topple over when you try and play them sitting down. So I gave it back.... The SG shape is much more friendly ?
Heath
my amp isn't loud enough , and patches take to long to switch
Neps
All my guitars inability to stay hidden when I've got friends over.. For some reason, half way through the night someone would have found one and then we end up just jamming and forgetting about the braai outside..
Don't realy mind most of the little quirks in my gear.. It's what makes it special to me.. that buzz on the 9th fret on the strat, the high action of my acoustics, the amps weird gain settings which sound different at different times of the week eventhough I hardly touch the knobs, that weird earth loop that happens every now and again.. like I said 'special..'

My very old Morley wah pedal that takes up about half of my pedal board and can only do wah. A wah/volume pedal combination would have been great.
The volume on my Fender Blues Deluxe is also too loud on 1. Is there a specific replacement pot that you guys can recommend to rectify this and where can I find it?
Explorerlover
@ Neps: Ditto with the braai
You can park my Isuzu under the strings on my Talman...the action is really high. Can't really let my Marshall's volume knob move over more than 3..Windows start to rattle, the mrs. shouts, nukes are deployed..... ?

I don't have a lot of gear. But recently I increased it by adding a chorus pedal, and life is now a little more complicated. The more you have, the more you have to check, to pack, pack batteries for, check that you've packed and generally worry about.
I should buy a Cort or a Tanglewood - the one real problem I have with the Morgan is that people want to borrow it. Not just friends (who generally are more thoughtful and considerate) but people I don't even know. Last time I played at TJs open mic night some lady I had never met before came up to me after my set and said that she really wanted to borrow my guitar because it sounded so good and she thought that it was what was required to be able to do her own performance justice. The person who had invited her to TJs had offered to lend her his own guitar (she having neglected to bring her own), but no - mine was the only one that would do the job.
Well it's not such a problem I suppose. You just say "no". Or ask for a 2000 US dollar deposit.

On second thoughts, the biggest downside to my equipment are all the freaking cables!!! >☹
Guitar cables, electric cables, speaker cables, little cables, long cables, colourful cables, amphibian landing craft shape cables....
?
Heath
i hear you about cables , gawd cables everywhere , i looked at some wireless systems , they require even more cables ...... *sigh* , i want a bluetooth guitar .
Mr-M
I have too many pedals and only a 2-loop true bypass switcher. I probably need 5 - 8 loops.
The real downside is that although most of the time I'm happy with my rig, I tend to always want something that sounds better, even though my current sound is great. This leads to more pickup changes, more expensive boutique pedals than the ones I already have and just general money spending. Guitar for me is almost like a bottomless pit into which I dump my money! That's the downside! Okay....Rant over. >☹ :'( :?
