I've been asking a lot of questions on how to get my Reaper/Kontakt setup working but there is this bugging question in the back of my mind...
Currently I am using Kontakt Player 5. I am getting sound on the PC (other post is about seperate keyboard issues) and I got quite a few nice instruments, that sound great :applause:...here is the problem...
Most of them are demo when used with Kontakt player so you can only use them for 15 minutes at a time, then you have to close Kontakt player and re-open etc... Cost of Kontakt full version is $399 which translates to about 4 g's...that's a lot of moola. And even if you PAY for some instruments, because Kontakt is the free version, you can only use it for 15 minutes at a time.
I don't mind paying for a sampler like Kontakt, but are there any cheaper versions around that are good? Realistic sounds?

...Ableton!
Even the free intro version is ridiculously full featured.
And you can use rewire to continue using reaper as your daw and Ableton as the host of your midi stuff - a bit tricky to get it all talking nicely though.

Used Ableton Paid before (Live Eight) and it was very long before the 8 track limit was reached. Was very usable and easy, but I think they use their own sampling format, which isn't as widely available as others....that plus I am not even getting Kontakt to work properly yet.... :'(

I'm using Sample tank free From IK Mutimedia, couple of good sounds for free. just register with them and you can get Amplitude free and other cool stuff too.

Thanks Jayhell...will look into it.
