morph Brown black black is only 10 Ohms ??? As Attila said ? http://www.michaels-electronics-lessons.com/resistor-color-code.html. The gold band is a tolerance figure, in this case the measure value will have +/- 5% variation.
Chabenda Alright Camaradas - I have fitted a 220k pot and the brown black yellow resistor. The signal is still quite strong but with the second amp volume just cracked open and the pot turned right down it works! The tone is fine. What should I change to reduce the signal further! ?
morph that doesn't sound right, with the pot all the way down it should practically be silent Can you post a photo of the circuit as you have it?
Attila No.... It is right Greg you can turn the pot all the way down BUT only up to that 100K resistor that will pass the a lot signal though. I built Richard a variable -30 switchable -60 DB PAD over the weekend. Tested it between my amps works fine, although I can't replicate his setup. Biggest issue was to match input impedance (Z-in 150 ohm) to the output load (Z-out 1M) and avoid freq loss. quite difficult getting this done passively. Oh before I forget.... TIP: NEVER use wire wound pots and resistor in signal paths they tend to suck tone and cause hi-freq loss...
