  • Behringer FCB1010 with UnO chip mod

Hello!

Does anyone have experience with the FCB1010 midi footswitch? I am looking at it as an option to replace my 4-button footswitch currently controlling my Blackstar ID:15 TVP amp. Has anyone had the UnO chip modification done locally? It allows you to use one bank of controllers the same way you'd use stomp boxes.
Lance aka Tokai guitars would most prob be in position to help
Great, thanks for the lead. I'll send him an e-mail.
Hey man, I have an Uno chip lying around somewhere if you find an FCB pedal
I have the FCB1010 with the UnO chip mod.

I got it from a user here on GFSA, not sure where he got the chip from.

I don't have any experience in controlling an amp with mine, but I use mine to control midi on my PC. I got it working well with Amplitube, and a little bit with Reaper. Couldn't get it to graft with S-Gear 2.

The unit is an absolute nightmare to program, and the only (paid) software I could find that actually worked in mapping the midi is this editor:

          http://www.lg-fcb.com/lgfcb_software.php

None of the freebies worked for me. I would set all the mapping, just wouldn't get any response from the software.

I wish Behringer would update this model and bring something to market that is affordable and doesn't take a degree in astro-physics to operate.
I have the standard version, no problems with software and very happy with the functionality. I do not want to switch stompboxes on or off (that is why I have the FCB1010) but I would have liked to be able to program different Midi channels per preset for the footpedals; it only allows global settings for which pedal controls which Midi channel. Otherwise, great unit and free compatible software.

              Hey Muhammad!

If it's fine, please hold onto that chip for me. I'm gonna see what I can organise in terms of the FCB in the next little while - would prefer getting my hands on a secondhand unit as opposed to buying brand new.

                Hey doc-phil!

Yes, I've read this on a couple of forums, and I ain't no astrophysicist either! On one of the forums someone posted a pedal programming strategy for live performance, and this is what I'd like to try and implement. What I'm after is being able to stomp between clean, overdriven and lead tones, and also have access to tap tempo. With the footswitch I currently own, I don't have a straightforward way of accessing tap tempo on the delay, which is a limitation.

                  Have you checked this: http://www.voes.be/fcb1010/howto.htm

It's from the guys who supply the UnO chip.

I'm particularly interested in trying to programme the FCB1010 once I have the chip installed (for stomp box functionality + tap tempo), but they also have a handy document on programming the FCB1010 without any software. I'm a total noob, so I may be setting myself up to crash and burn spectacularly...

Yes, it can change the controller number but not the target Midi channel.

I have three Midi channels to control with CC messages: a preamp, a synth and an effects machine. The challenge is that per type of preset there are different things to put in a footpedal: with a drive+wah Hendrix preset you'd want to have the wah under one pedal (effects machine) and the gain under the other (preamp). With a Hammond preset you'd want the Leslie under foot, depth under the one and speed under the other (both synth) while another approach would be guitar+Hammond needing drive (preamp) and mix (synth). In a clean+chorus type preset, it would be volume (preamp) and chorus mix (effects machine). So I 'need' to send to 2 out of 3 Midi channels. I have looked at making both the synth and the effects machine the same Midi channel but this does limit the number of programs considerably.

                      Hey guys!

I learnt this morning that the Blackstar ID:15 amp doesn't have midi input. My incorrect assumption was that I'd be able to plug the FCB controller into the footswitch input on the front of the amp (where the current controller goes). MIDI only come with the ID:60 model, upwards. Looks like I'm going to have to look at a delay with tap tempo stomp box if I want to control the tap tempo more directly.
