I've decided to try my hand at recording after I've been playing for a while.

I basically need a basic full setup and this is what I've decided on mainly to record guitar for now:

SM57
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Reaper

Any suggestions/advice before I buy?
    Something to consider:
I have a Yamaha THR 10. It can connect to a PC with a USB cable. You get Cubase AI with the amp. You get two signals from the amp, one with the amp's eq and effect settings and a dry signal which you can apply patches on etc. This is for both electric and acoustic guitar.

The amp is also decently priced.

That looks pretty good. The only problem is I'm trying to capture the tone of my other amps.
Scarlett 2i4 and Sennheiser E835 is what I have. Similar to an SM58, which I preferred. Including the Reaper software and where you shop, those 3 will total about 5k. The reason SM57/58 is a household name is because they are very robust. In a live setting they can take a beating.

2i4 has a 'gain damping' switch which the 2i2 does not have. Helps prevent clipping with high output pickups.

        My 2c.

Thanks for the advice! That setup in the video is pretty close to mine so that definitely helps. The SM58 seems significantly better.
