Hi guys and gals.
I recently clinched a deal with Kevin, the lead player for "Beeskraal".
My never played, (new), Fender Baja Blonde Tele for his Fender FSR Limited Edition Smoky tweed Blues de Luxe re-issue amp.
Now, although only 150 of these amps are available to the US public, hundreds are spread around the world! Canada just had hundreds of these on order, They are freely available in Australia and other countries. Isn't the term "Limited Edition" a bit overplayed here, especially to the US public, that's incorrectly made to understand that only 150 are available worldwide?! If this was the case, then I'd agree, but this is not the case!!
Just thought I have to get this off my chest! Thanks for listening.

Pisses me off as well !!!!... Marshal are particularly good at "Limited Editions" which mean little more that using another color tolex.

Glad you agree Atilla! ?

They do this because guitar players like that sort of thing. A limited edition / handmade / boutique <whatever/> item makes one feel all nice and fuzzy inside. They'll keep doing it if people keep buying it. I don't really see the problem. Most of us like gear that looks cool as well as sound the way we like. Its up to you to decide whether you want to pay extra for the cool tolex or not. Kinda like paying extra for alloy wheels on a car, limited advantage to doing so, but it looks cool so why not?

li tied implies scarce means it's desirable means price can be exploited....happens in all industries....but ja Fender do it regularly with all the FSR and the like....ultimately it's the consumer that drives this
Everything is limited if you think about it

if i understand it correctly a "limited edition" model means it's just a short run of that model ...maybe a year then they stop making it........so next year you can't order one .... sure it's marketing and sales related ...but also nice if they happen to tweak a particular model that happens to suit your likes...... i like the idea for example of the limited run of "old growth" guitars by fender.... way cool .... i reckon just suck it up no need to let things like this upset one ....and just maybe one of the limited edition special factory runs will be just the right combination of specs to be your ideal/dream amp or guitar ?

150 ea was made available to the US market and was labeled and marketed as such. Limited amounts were then also made available to the other big territories. They are FSR models (which basically only means non-standard), and the quantity produced is limited. Why call it a farce? The total quantity made is only a small fraction of the total number of regular production models produced of that model and as far as I can see have sold out everywhere and are no longer available new in any of the few stores who stocked them. Unless the oke you got it from made it seem like that there are only 150ea available worldwide, in which case he got his facts wrong
Good trade by the way.

Which thread are you replying to?

Too subtle apparently. Your reply makes no sense. Pictures of what? Of the OP's traded guitar or amp? Of chris77's... erm... not sure. And who is lying about what?

Nevermind mate. I was making a satirical comment in " show me the amp otherwise ill think your lying" No harm meant , No fuss needed.
Have a leke weekend.

Being an internet pedant is not working for me either. :-[ Lekker naweek ou maat.
Back on topic... and kind of to do with the Fender NAMM topic. It's got to be cynical marketing, all these Specials and Limiteds. We all have amps. We all have guitars. We trade a lot, leave them to kids/grandkids, inherit them. i.e. don't buy new ones as often as cellphones, cars, etc. But Fender/Marshall/Gibson/wienogal have to keep on selling...

At this stage i think only the amplifier companies are making money out of me... struggling to fin an amp that suits me.. well i found one.. i havnt got the money tho lol.
