  • SD Pegasus for my Ibby

Hey guys!

Does anyone have any experience with Seymour Duncan Pegasus pickups?

I'm contemplating putting one in the bridge of my Ibanez for some occasional metal and hard Rock.
Also, when compared to a screaming deamon in the bridge, which would you guys recommend?

Thanks a mil

I don't have the Pegasus but have studied it extensively (I got the Nazgul instead). The Pegasus has very clear note definition, but I found it lacks 'growl'. It's best paired with a Sentient pickup in the neck.
Yeah the idea is to couple it with a Sentient. I will, however have to change all of the electronics, since the Rga uses an active circuit. I realize that it's probably not ideal to put top notch pickups in a guitar which costs less than R6k, but in my opinion the guitar has lots of potential and if I should buy another guitar which would do these pups more justice, then I'll simply transfer them.

Anyway, will the sentient be able to give me harmonic neck lead tones as well?
Are there any guitar techs in Joburg willing to help me change the pickups and install a different nut? Either bone or tusq...

The Sentient gets the job done but its nothing spectacular, even when the coil is split. I think I might eventually replace it with something that has more character.
I had my pickups changed by a tech (in CT) who also created coil taps on both pups, so worth it!
