So, I have been looking for a nice dumble type pedal, and was set on getting hold of a Lovepedal/Hermida Zendrive, only the Rand/Dollar exchange rate has been putting me off. So I then came across a custom build company in the UK, who do some great clones of various well known drives, and got the chance to get one relatively cheap on eBay brand new direct from the manufacturer....

I won the first pedal, which is a clone of a Dumble/Zendrive, and also had the chance to get one of their other pedals which I also snapped up. That one being a 'Timmy' clone.

A little later still, I saw an interesting Zendrive clone by another UK based company which was adapted to have germanium diodes inplace of the original ones, which is said to make it smoother and clearer, so I took a gamble on that too.

I can't wait to get a hold of them and try them out, but unfortunately, they are all waiting for me in the UK at my parents house, so I'll only get them on my board early next year!

So without further adoo.....

Lucid Audio FX 'Harmony Drive' (Dumble/Zendrive clone)....

Lucid Audio FX ' Gentleman's Relish' (Timmy Clone).....

And finally the Dope FX 'Black Lotus' (modified Zendrive clone)....

So hopefully, the New Year is going to bring lots of joy and cheer to my pedal board! ?

I'm still looking at possibly adding a Lucid Audio FX Klon clone, but we'll see if that pans out?!

Here's two more to consider in place of the Klon Centaur

Thanks Arjun, though they will no longer be necessary. Last night I managed to snap this Lucid Audio FX 'Chiron' Klon clone, which includes the internal 'voltage doubler' to 18v from a 9v supply, and a buffer too as in the original.

This particular one that I got here, has sockets for the diodes, and two extra sets of diodes with it, so I can swap and change them for different tones. Sounds great on paper, but the proof will be in the playing in the new year! ?

        Fantabulous!

I love the artwork/presentation of the Lucid Audio pedals.

Yer, that was one of the things that sold them to me! ?

Well, onto yours or someone elses ? ?

Enjoy ? Would love to hear some clips
I am now going to have to have a good think about my board layout, as I have space for one and a half pedals, yet 4 pedals to fit on! The Strymons (x2 plus a favourite switch) and Way Hugii (x3) take up lots of space!

I'm sure I'll work it all out in the New year when they are altogether! ? But the possibility of a few being parted with is a consideration if it comes to it. Or the other is an even bigger board, but considering this is what my board presently looks like, a bigger board is perhaps not the best option?....

So a quick report back on my findings with these beauties.....

I first visited a Forum friend to do some testing before I got to try them on my board, and we had some expected and surprising results.....

The Gentleman's Relish (Timmy clone) sounded just like a Timmy, and was nice enough but just lacked a little something when tried through his rig, and the same with the Chiron (Klon clone).... Very much as expected.

The Dope FX 'Black Lotus' (Modified Zendrive clone) again sounded great, but seemed to cut the low end a little, so that pedal has been reserved for further investigation. Otherwise a very nice sounding pedal.

The true surprise was the Harmony drive (Zendrive clone) which just sat in the zone and did what it does best! Fantastic sounding drive, and really blew both of us away!

So I took the pedals (mostly at the settings we had left them) to my rig, and again the Harmony drive shone and sounded great. It has become clear that this one is a winner. The only disadvantage I have noticed is that it doesn't like to work with other drives after it? It seems to muffle the sound as if there is some phase cancellation or something happening?

This phase cancellation also seemed to affect the Chiron when this was in front of the Harmony drive, and although the Chiron sounds fantastic, I have decided to not have it on my board, as a result of this interaction between the two pedals. A real shame as the Chiron is very nice, but the Harmony drive even more so, so thats the winner.

The Gentlemans Relish works excellently in front of the Harmony drive, and sounds great on its own too, so that one gets the extra spot on my board.

So to sum up, two are excellent and have a very happy home on my board, and two are also excellent, but not seemingly working for me and my setup, but one (Black Lotus) still has a chance to redeem itself! ?

                Regards
                G!
