Good day all. I have a Samson meteor microphone which I dropped. The USB port on the mic broke. According to the Samson technicians the whole circuit board on which it is mounted needs to be replaced. This will apparently cost more than a new mic.
So that brings me to the question: Can anybody refer me to an alternative technician that will work on Samson mics? Preferably in Pretoria area.
Kind regards,

Do you have pics? When you say the USB broke, is it visually broken or it just stopped working?
Unfortunately, with a lot of the newer products such as this, the components are all surface mount and are nearly impossible to replace. If it's just the usb socket that needs to be replaced, that should be doable by any electronic technician.

Hi Paul,
I don't have pics at the moment, I'll take some when I get it back. The USB port has (don't know how else to describe it) imploded. The port itself is loose inside of the microphone.

Open up the mic. If the usb connector is still in tact re-solder it to the board and see if that works. If the connector isn't usable anymore go to your local electronics store and ask them if they stock the connector. They will probably also be able to do the solder job.
I don't know of an electronics store in PTA but there are quite a few in Jhb. RSE Electronics, RS components, Mantech, Communica.
