  • The Awesome Female Musician Thread

This thread is to celebrate all the great female musicians of the past and present, regardless of their instrument. This thread is NOT for Britney-Bubblegum or white-knighting, merely justified awesomeness.

Post pics, videos etc. of your favourite female musos.

I'll go first.

Emily Remler. Good lawd good lawd could this woman play. I'm currently learning her solo on Clifford Brown's Daahoud and she is killing it. You can hear a strong Wes Montgomery influence in her playing.

Btw, I'm pretty sure that hairy arm in the video is not hers. ?
Gabriela of Rodrigo y Gabriela, her rhythmic beats re-kindled my nylon string passion 8)

And lest we forget, GFSA's very own Keira Witherkay...!

      Ok I'll bite.
Of course the ladies from Kitty kick ass.

In terms of musicians that have inspired me as a player:
      Jo Bench form Bolt Thrower.
Listening the her play makes me want to get up and practice 10x harder.

      All the ladies from Gallhammer.

To be honest Vivian Slaughter's playing convinced me to pick up a bass.
      (her and Albert Witchfinder :-[)
I was privileged enough to check some of the awesome female (and male) musicians at the GFSA gig a rumours ?

        One of my favs

I dig "music" related movies and was introduced to her through "This is it".
        She plays PRS too!

+1 on Emily Remler, Charlie. Sad how her life ended though.

Susan Tedeschi (or Mrs. Trucks to some)...with the amazing Warren Haynes
