DAW: Reaper Audio Interface: Allen&Heath ZEDFX10 Guitar Rhythm & Lead parts: Martin guitar recorded via onboard pickup and Shure58 mic. (Martin guitar on loan from a reckless owner beautiful! ) Acoustic Bass and Drum parts: created in GP6, exported as .wav files and inserted in DAW

All guitar parts were doubled up with a 5-10 milsec shift between each. Bass, Kick and snare centered, Rhythm parts one hard left the other hard right. "Chorus/Intro" lead part 20% left and "Verse" lead part 20% right. I used my own EQ and compression pre-sets for each track.

Bettencourt "October" http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/Bettencourt.mp3

Recorded with reaper from a multi effects pedal direct into the microphone jack of my laptop. Used an "acoustic" patch for the rhythm track and a voxish patch for the clean, adding a tube screamer in front of it for the chorus/instrumental part.

The playing is a little sketchy here and there because I tried some stuff that is not in the music I normally play...But overall I'm pretty pleased with this because I took around 2 hours to conceptualise it, learn reaper and record it. I need to get some drums and stuff going in the future sometime for my entries going forward.

I liked the main riff you had going and the percussive elements you brought in with the acoustic. I picked up some fret buzz, technique or guitar setup? Cool feel in the song...

    Bettencourt
Liked the acoustic stuff and the instrumental stuff. Possibly look at the volumes of the pieces and the tone of the lead, bit "muddy"/muffled. Liked the progression of the piece.

    Hammet
I liked the idea in your song, felt like the "after battle" type stuff from westerns or old movies as the troops wander off, licking their wounds. hehe. Found you tone a little "muffled" (not sure if that's the right word) but still liked the composition.
Sheesh as a noob to recording all three are well produced and well done.

I am not qualified to make any comments on the technical aspects of your creations :'(

In terms of the scope for the compo, i think Morse met it within the required set. The blues just makes the knees go "Lam". ?

Bettincourt - Epic man good use of alternating rhythm and lead. This song begs for words! The ending with the riff. Worshipful man ?

Hammet yours takes the cake in my opinion. The tone suits the mood and yes it would fit into a movie "Kill Bill 6 - Resurrection" The romantic bit with knives and stuff hidden in garters and belts. ? ?
the quality/standard of all these entries is pretty darn amazing man. in both recording and playing/songwriting departments. i'm actually going to need a little while to make my mind up, its certainly not an open/shut decision for me guys, lol ? .
