Anyone have a Small Hypercardiod condensor to rent for a few days?

Hi guys

Im working a indie film to be shot at a local high school next week

Im trying to get hold of a small diaphragm Condensor (Hyper Cardioid) for booming indoor dialogue

anyone in Cape town Area have one i could rent for 4 days next week?

Not hyper-c, but I have an AKG C535EB SDC which has a switchable rolloff: flat; 100Hz @ 12dB/8ve; or 500Hz @ 4dB/8ve. Slight drawback is the 500Hz setting is at -14dB - but it has low self noise, so it's not an issue with a decent pre.

hmmm i think to be safe i must go for hyper-c... will be much more effective for booming dialogue on set.

but thats cool that it has such a high roll off! m aybe that could actually work! ill let u know alan, thanks

The 500Hz rolloff is specifically designed to tailor for proximity effect when close miking sources. It's served me well in dealing with boomy sources/rooms.

Don't forget that a hyper-c mic has more proximity effect.

Any chance you can use a gobo or two behind the source (and maybe an instrument Reflexxion filter on the mic) to get rid of boominess before it hits the mic?
