Considering the disaster that was the December/January competition and, consequently, the fact that no one wants to sponsor us any more, February's competition will go back to something easy to manage -- referrals.
Go to your profile, find your referral link and copy and paste it on your web site, in your email signature, on other forums you frequent and wherever else you can legally post the link.
At the end of February, I'll award the person who referred the most new members FREE MEMBERSHIP to www.GuitarMasterClass.net for 3 months. That's worth $29 or R203. And, trust me, you WANT a subscription to that site! They have awesome videos on almost anything related to guitar ?
So, get going already!

Umm... Norio? Maybe I'm being a bit nitpicky here, but with last month's competition: maybe there would have been more voting if you had told us when the voting thingie (tech term that - thingie) went up. I was busy and forgot about it. Or did you do this and I missed it in the general hecticity that is my life lately?
I'd also like to remove myself from the running for this month's competition, as I feel I have an unfair advantage.

I sent something out in a newsletter but I think that, because of the timing, virtually everyone missed it. Virtually nothing happened since about the 20th of December apart from the odd post :/
No probs -- we'll exclude your referrals from this month's comp.

It was quiet here late December. And by Jan, most of us had forgotten about the voting (well, I know I had ?). You should have kept on at us about it.

I agree, something should've been done to get people going but, the thing is, I have a day job so I need to find ways to automate as much as possible so the forum keeps going strong in my absence.
Of course, volunteers are always welcome!

So what were the figures? I saw Spyke was referring a few folk at one point, but haven't kept up with who is doing what.
Otherwise, if no-one is a clear winner, rather hold it over for the next competition.

I normally base the competitions on how many members you refer. (They actually have to sign up). So I think that's why I missed Spyke.
Having said that, I'd rather give this prize away to the person that tried the most than not give it away at all.
Where did you guys see Spyke's referral stats? In his profile or on the stats page? Just wanna be sure.

From the look of that, Francis Viviers and I are tied below Alan. If Alan is exempt (dunno, was mentioned earlier in the thread) then it would be between us. Francis' members have been more active than mine - referred members posts.
But anyhoo, was fun none the less. And Lawrence loves this place now!

Thanks Spyke. Yeah, I have an unfair advantage with two busy sites referring visitors, so I bowed out.
Well Norio, the most new members of any month (26). So I think the prize should go to someone.
The referral stats are cumulative though - not just for this month. Francis referred Satriani a while ago, which means he has one less new referral this month than Spyke.

Well between juggling the Magazine deadline and other drama here at work, I haven't had too much chance to troll GMC. What i did manage to browse has been more than informative and entertaining.
The next three months i'm probably going to make more progress than what i have the last few years.
