  • Three new(ish) pedal day, and an old one I forgot to share day! :)

So as my last update suggested, I've been busy working on my pedal board, and had been looking to add certain pedals. An limited offer for one presented itself which thanks to my wife I was able to jump on, then another I took in a partial trade, and the other popped up at the right price just as I'd sold some kit (and paid the missus back for the first one.

So enough of the waffle, here is my first totally new, limited build pedal from Lovepedal (again), built to the usual incredible standards.... Introducing the Echophonic (delay with modulation).....

Next up is a pedal I wanted to buy from one guy a while ago, but missed out, but then eventually it worked its way into my hands.... A peddle that whilst is designed for bass, I will be trying it out on guitar.... The T-Rex bass squeezer compressor....

Then this next pedal is something a little special (not that the others aren't that too) and again is a used pedal that I saw for sale, but didn't have the cash available, then it sold. The new owner (a fellow forumite - Thanks!) found it wasn't their cup of tea, so placed it back up for sale, just at the right time after I had sold a few things, so I was able to jump on it. Introducing the very well respected Bogner Ecstacy Blue overdrive and boost pedal......

And Finally..... A little buffer pedal that I had made for me a while ago by Benji, but with moving house never got around to sharing.... The artwork is exquisite and exactly what I requested.... Introducing my Craigamps Minion buffer....

I'm still yet to thoroughly test these new pedals, but they all look very promising, and seem to fulfill my requirements, but the proof will be in the playing. ?

Nice on all three. How well does the Squeezer work on guitar though? I usually prefer FET style compression on guitars...
I will let you know how it works on guitar. I have not yet tried that one out, so it will be an interesting experiment to see how it does? If it doesn't work particularly well on guitar, I will just use it on my bass (as its intended) and may even start setting up a small bass board? I hope to get some time to play with it all in the next few days, so I will report back! ?

So initial report back after some experimenting and playing time....

The LP Echophonic is absolutely beautiful! Easily as good sounding as my Strymon El Capistan, though not as versatile or adaptable due to the limited controls. Lots of three dimensionality, and the modulation control really adds some lovely depth to the mix.

The Bogner Ecstacy Blue initially left me completely underwhelmed, and I wondered what all the fuss was about, and seemed to lack any gain at all. Only once I started flipping some of the switches, and dared whack the gain up significantly did I suddenly stumble across the low gain 'Nirvana'! Now I've got it tweaked into the zone, I can't get enough of this pedals tones! It certainly is not lacking in the low end, which I usually find to be a drawback of all too many overdrive pedals, so that's a big plus to me!

The T-Rex Squeezer however has been a disappointment, but then, I was being a little optimistic hoping it would work on the guitar since it is designed for bass. I will be trying it in its intended use soon, but I was hopeful that it could have worked as my main electric compressor. Hard to explain exactly what it was that I didn't like about it though, and perhaps a little more experimentation may yet yield results, but I think this pedal will be coming off my board some point soon?

That's probably it. They do some great compressors (the Comp-Nova is still one of the best transparent comps I've ever owned). Bass compression is, to me, pretty specific - I've always preferred the bi-comp (multing) approach for bass.
