So I unexpectedly played my electric guitar in public for the first time last night. I've been sitting in on rehearsals at church to get my head around playing guitar instead of bass, and when I arrived last night the electric guitarist had called in sick. I wasn't keen to play, but by the end of the rehearsal I was persuaded to give it a go. Ended up having a blast.
I played my Classic Vibe Tele through a close-miked Vox Mini 3- not something I thought would be gig-ready but it gave a pretty good clean, edge-of-breakup sound. I've fitted a four way switch with both pickups in series in the fourth position, and got useful tones out of all four positions, including the neck pickup alone, which is not something I enjoyed playing at home but it blended well in context.
