Locally manufactured valves ?

Hi all ,been wondering ,are there no local companies manufacturing valves for guitar amps ? I always just see valves ,tubes being supplied by overseas dealers. Thanks.

We are not a manufacturing economy, plus we have environmental laws. Anyway, no-one is going to invest in setting up a factory to produce an out of date product with a dwindling user base.

The only reason we still have factories making them at all is the old Soviet Bloc countries were still using them in military equipment just before the Iron Curtain came down.

...but there's nothing stopping you from making one yourself. ?

I don't think we ever manufactured valves locally- apart from being messy and dangerous to make, they're expensive and need to be made to very high tolerances.
