Manfred, I also skate. (not well though... :-[)
Why did you give skating up???
I may not be good at it, but I do try...and on top of that, there's no one to coach me so that I can actually get better at it!

Still the models all the way for me. Guitar playing during the week nights after needed maintanance and building on the helicopters or new planes where needed. Flying the whole weekend. ?

I build/restore/hotrod my own guitars as a hobby. Even though I've got a good amount of experience I won't do this for other people, partly because I'm nervous enough doing stuff on my own guitars, but also because I did some work for other folks and, although the projects came out great, it just wasn't my thing. I've also tried my hand at some electronics - mostly pedals and DIY studio-stuff.

I absolutely LOVE horses. My first memories are of wanting to play guitar and wanting to work with horses. I got my first horse when I was 3 and between my father, my wife and I we have 7 that we keep in a herd setup in the most natural way we can on a big open piece of land. The area we live in make it really possible to do this. They all basically live as wild horses that are used to human interaction. Horses are amazing animals that will teach you more than you ever though possible.

I also really like classic bikes (and choppers, but not the OCC-type modern ones). I currently own a '74 Honda CB750 Four that I just love. We have beautiful roads here and it's great to take my wife out on her over the few weekends we have free.

i love a spot of fishing every once in a while too. Fishing, horses and my bike are the only things that can make me forget about music.

It was Gary Player who said "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man". Or something like that. I am not a horse lover but have never been exposed to them really. But I can see what gets people going about horses.

Anything automotive really...Bikes,cars,model cars(methanol)

I like projects...get something that is totally pooched spend some time fixing it and then sell it on for a profit...

Currently busy with a Yamaha XT500 conversion to SuperMotard...

Only problem is that these things cost money, which is something that very few of us have....

Great topic BTW! ?

I dont have anyone to skate with, it's not fun skating alone, and besides i started injuring my arm every time i fall down, which is not good for guitar playing.

I collect scabs...

No, just kidding. I'm into cars (duh!) so a lot of my free time (and 90% of business hours) are spent in cars, with cars, photographing cars, writing about cars, talking about cars or watching cars drive and race. My commentary gig takes up a lot of my weekends.

Guitar, music and recording is my hobby. I also enjoy modding and fiddling with guitars. I'm also into Playstation games when I feel like vegetating...

I used to play Golf (Dad played the SA Senior Pro tour) but haven't picked up my clubs in ages. Used to BMX too... now all the exercise I get is jumping to conclusions and jogging my memory.

Ray

I played golf with a guy at Modderfontein about a year and half ago and he collected guitars. Was talking about something he had just acquired for a huge amount of money from overseas on the internet. Something very old. So I asked him if he played and he said no. A few chords, that's all. But he liked them lying around his place. I didnt play yet but I thought this oke was a bit off-center. He owned a print shop or something. I will join that golf club and make sure I play with him again.

Carmen

I also love horses, JoEllis. Me and my sister share one between us... ?

Otherwise: family life, reading a lot. I'm one of those who can't just go to bed at night and switch off the bedside lamp. I read until I fall asleep, wake up and read a bit more, and so on until finally the book falls to the floor and my wife switches off the light... ?

I also cant go to bed without reading, a sore point between my wife and me ?

its the same with my wife ? she hates you guys :'( well not hate.

Lol! That's so me!

If I don't read I'll watch anything on TV until I nod off. Routine is my wife tries to wrestle remote control from my hand without me waking, which I always do. Then we argue for a few minutes about whether I was sleeping or not! ?

It's a ploy to get control of the male sceptre of power. ?

Neps

Reading faaaarrrr too many books. If its got something written on pages I'll pick it up. Once upon a time I played PS2 but that faded, played rugby but got injured and did hiking but got tired.. so it's just reading, and the occasional gyming session in the bar, to see how many beers I can pick up..hahaha.. nah I'm not that bad.

True! The last vestige, nogal. We have to turn this around somehow!

Watch movies. I have a pretty good DVD collection. Not as good as my CD collection, but it's growing daily. I hate watching TV. I wach news and sports and sometimes History chanel. Mmm and then there is X files. I am going through the whole series again. One show per night - then it takes about half a year to go through it all. Then I'll start at the pilot episode again.

I used to do machinima. That is making animation movies with game engines. It is a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. Many hours to get maybe one minute of movie.

One of my addictions as well. Also Millenium, West Wing and Alias.

Carmen wrote Is there anything else that you do as a hobby besides playing guitar?
(eg. collect things, do sport, etc.) 8)

Bird watching is a pursuit that I find very calming and enjoyable, though I don't spend a lot of time on it lately.

I don't know if reading counts because of itself it's not linked to a single activity. You can read cops and robbers, you can read quantum physics. I've been in hospital for the first half of this week and so got a chance to catch up on some reading (not much scope for guitar playing I'm afraid). I took a huge chunk out of Tony Leon's autobiography which was a far more interesting, deeper, more thought-provoking book than I expected (he's a good writer too - the book is a real page-turner).

At various times in my life I have dabbled with gardening and been a petrol head. I am still interested in cars, but not motivated by them. Music (not just playing the guitar) has been the one consistent passion for a long time now, and it's the thing that I would spend lots of money on if I had lots of money to spend. CDs, DVDs, books about music, maybe a couple more axes ?

Bob-Dubery

PS: I don't take much interest in soccer. I pretend to be a Pirates supporter to annoy my Chiefs-supporting gardener.

Cricket is a lovely game, but generally I find the shorter the form of the game the less interesting it gets.

I dive whenever we get the time and money to go away. I was in Sodwana this past weekend doing exactly that. It is hard to think that on Sunday I was lying on the bottom of the ocean surrounded by about seven Raggie sharks. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. I would like to end this year on my way to a Master Diver qualification.

Otherwise I play golf, and ocasionally ride my mountain bike.

As a kid I used to build model airplanes. I'd like to do that again to be honest, I just have no space to put them when they are done now!

I also watch DVD's, especially TV series, and read a lot.

That sounds really awesome! I have a deep respect for sharks. I have this weird thing where they really scare me but at the same time they leave me in awe, wanting them to be OK. I love to go snorkling whenever I get the chance.
