So for some time I've been gassing for a Fender guitar and missed two second-hand offers...

Well got a really good deal at Frontline Music Shop in Maitland and came home with a Fender Mexican Strat 2012-2013 model. Man it's an absolute joy to play!!! Taking it for a setup soon and replacing the strings. I think that's all that's needed...

I like the feel and tone so much this is going to become my go-to guitar... ?

Sorry can't post a pic but it's the Lake Placid Blue colour with SSS configuration...rosewood fingerboard...for thos interested here's the link to Fender's site of the guitar...

Congrats and enjoy! The current Standards are good guitars.
Congrats dude. I agree with Alan.

I recently took ownership of two MIM guitars, a Tele and Strat, both Maple necks.

I have a 2001 Strat to compare the modern on to.

The modern one has medium jumbo frets , compared to the smaller vintage frets on the other.

The bridge block is a big steel one now, compared to the tiny zinc one in the old one, but I did replace the old one with a big brass block.

The new neck is a fuller modern C shape which sits in my hand much better than the older rosewood neck Strat.

And the new Strat has a litgher Alder body which is also slightly bigger than the Poplar body of the older Strat.

Obviously I can't say which one sounds better due to the many variables, as well as the older Strat having lace sensors and the new one hot noiseless pups. But they are both beasts in their own right.

      So enjoy the new Strat.
Well all I can say at this point with my first Fender guitar is thst it looks great, feels fantastic and sounds (for now) perfect?
