yep this fri 18 July it's open mic at Indulgence cafe (255 beyers naude drive ,northcliff, jhb)(map on the fb event if you follow link below




it's back !!!!!! after a short winters break .....

open mic at Indulgence cafe FRI 18th July at 7 pm

the event is hosted by Keira Witherkay

there is a R25/person couvert charge (including people performing)

full bar and restaurant menu available and plenty of free parking

if you want to book for dinner please call 011 782 5063

the rules are simple

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO NOT JUST MUSICIANS BUT COMEDIANS AND POETS TOO...... and all genres of music ....original or covers ...acoustic or electric ....

PLEASE NOTE....

1. a sound system and microphones will be provided
2. bring your own guitar/keyboard /instrument
3. there will be a 15 min time limit per artist (and if it's a quiet evening once everyone has played we allow the artists to perform again if they want )
4.volume of artists will be controlled so any loud acts wanting to perform be aware that you will have to play at the accepted volume as the venue has neighbours.
5. all genres of music welcome as long as the volume constraints mentioned above are adhered to
6. open to all, beginners /intermediate/pro's
7.the performance slots of 15min each will be set up on a blackboard and as you(the artist) arrives please pick a time slot on the board , it will be 1st come /1st served
8. any large bands please contact keira via msg to arrange set up earlier, there is no problem with having larger bands but there is limited setup time between slots so anyone requiring a larger setup(drums/keyboards etc ) must set up before the Open mic starts

        Great evening's entertainment, vibe was good and all acts were superb :goodtimes:

        Good to meet PeteM and catch up with Liam and Deon again.
          yes a great evening and some amazing talent ..... and diverse genres.... over 10 artists performed

          thanks for forum members Brian and Pete who came and performed

          i'll post some pics in the performance section

            some pics of open mic



            from left on clarinet (and double bass) Liam , on acoustic guitar Brian (from forum) next to him Deon on Gibson SG and finally me Keira WItherkay on tele doing a jazz jam to conclude the entire evening ...was fabulous


            on left is Richard a nu folk original artist and next to him is forum member Pete Misselbrook who did a fabulous acoustic and vocal bluesy set and pete helped out on the desk when i needed to get away


            from left Liam on double bass and Deon on archtop who played a set of 20's jazz with a song or two of gypsy jazz... great act , very entertaining



            there was a surprise to the evening when canadian magician and comedian "Magic man" did a set .... he had everyone rolling in the aisles ...



              JD from JD kustom guitars performed played and sang some john Mayer tunes



              Jean also from JD kustom performed a few instrumental tunes


              on right is a singer /guitarist Isabelle( hope i got the name right ) who wowwed us



              Jazz singer Elma Gordon on left sang some Jazz standards and i backed her on guitar

              and of course Brian , and Pete and Richard did solo sets but the photographer did not catch them on stage except brian in the jazz jam
