Dont mind about the guys on the other side of the ocean they tend to be a bit grumpy.
I'm shure alan, gearhead or someone else will give you an even better answer for the info on your ibanez.
Forums, mailing lists, usenet groups do tend to each have their own ethos or character. Some are helpful. Some are not. Some are polite. Some are not.
A while back I needed to get up to speed on some opensource development tools. The folks on the MySQL forum that I got involved could not have been more helpful or pleasent. The Python guys were OK, if somtimes having difficulty talking down to my level, the guys on the Usenet Perl group were the kind that Wizard ran into :"You're cluess newbie (or, sometimes, clueless f...ing newbie), why don't you RTFM. Once you've RTFM then read the camel book (famous book in the Perl world, published by the O'Reilly group), It's all in there!"
Yes, this forum is a helpful and generally friendly one. I think a lot has to do with the tone set by our moderators. Karma to each of you!
