So, I played through a couple of all valve amps, most of witch was way too loud for what I wanted.

I was quite sceptical about the wee little Blackstar HT-1R combo amp. Well, playing it rocked my world. Even though it isn't super clean amp, and only has a puny driver, I does pretty well at a 4 in the morning volume level, and it sounds quite good in my Sennheisers.

I got quite a bargain on this little amp (guy didn't like the rattle it has on some frequencies, on full volume - goes away when using headphones or plugged into a cab), and I still have quite a lot of change left over. Will start by adding a decent cab later on.

Thanks for your advice guys.
I have one of these lil Blackstars and coupled with my Tokai LP gives me orgasmically great tones.....I swear if I was playing arenas I would be micing this thing up with a special roadie whose job it is to change the channels when needed ? love the lil blackstar ....

Hehe it works quite well with a Tokai LP doesn't it....
Congrats, that is a really cool amp that is high on my things-to-get list.
Great choice. They make some good little amps.
Congrats! Yeah, the Blackstars do seem to fit Les Pauls rather well from the few I've heard.

Just be aware that upgrading the driver will probably make it louder, which it sound like you might not want.
