Got a chance to play around with the new Ez Drummer II, it's not bad at all, the default kit is tons better than the old default one which was really bad, the new options and browser are all major improvements as well, overall it's pretty impressive, anyone looking for some drum software should definitely check it out.

Here's a quick messaround with it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29399799/EZ%20Drummer%20II.mp3
That's not bad at all - a bit like the "Rock Solid" kit. I reckon I'm going to spring for the update as long as the older EZDs are compatible.
Caveat: there was some tweaking involved, that's not what it sounds like out the box, but that's what you could do with it with not that much effort at all, so it's got potential, the old default kit was just unusable.

If all the other xpansion kits open no problem then it's definitely worth it just for all the ease of use with the midi browser and swapping midi parts to different drums just be dragging them around etc.
The kick sounded real good, but those toms sound awesome...though not convinced by the hats/cymbals?
As far as I know (from watching some YT demos), the old expansion kits are compatible with EZD2.

As a songwriting tool and a means to capture good sounding ideas quickly, it does sound very promising.

All EZ Drummer kits are compatible, with new mixer preset enhancements and graphics, but any new xpansions will only be available for EZ Drummer II from what I understand.
