Noisy pedal
charleshaupt
Hi all pls advise ,have a Boss MT- 2 metalzone ,made in Taiwan. As soon as the level is turned past 12 o,clock ,it becomes quite noisy. Below 12 it gives a decent sound, any suggestions? Thanks

Keep it turned below 12? ?
Seriously though, high gain drive pedals amplify any noise radically. As long as you're getting unity gain (where it is about the same output volume as bypassed) or a little bit more to kick your amp you are fine.
Most modern drive pedals are pretty good for noise, while they still amplify whatever noise they receive at their input, they generally don't add too much noise themselves. So noise problems are more likely caused by something earlier in the signal chain (and the drive is just amplifying that) or from an inordinate amount of gain.

It can also be caused by a noisy power supply...
