? Well, no one else has started one, so here goes. Let the games begin...what a great month it's going to be.

Bokvet wrote And the last time I watched soccer was with the last world cup and I determined that Forlan and Suarez worked themselves silly and achieved quite a bit for their team. And for that reason I took a great liking to Uruguay. Are they in the tourney?

Uruguay are most definitely in the tourney, and they're very good.
They're in a group with England, Italy and Costa Rica.
They might be the team that sends England home early. ?

5-1 and who remembers Soccer City... There's a team that have announced their candidacy....

Unbelievable, an Spain are euro champs too...maybe a case of too early for the Dutch and serve the Spanish well...I just don't know...

I don't think running into the home team early on in the tournament will serve any other team well...

Not that the home team look any good yet. A very average performance. Very suspect defence, Neymar can't pass the ball. Only Oscar was worthy of a mention. But world cups do spring surprises.

In 1986 Denmark were by far the most impressive team in the first round but then got beat by Spain 5-1 in the second round.

A long way to go

2 of my predictions looking true at the moment ...dismal African team perofmances with very few exeptions(only 1 really being ivory coast) and England.....woe is England......Liverpool too good for em

It's Possible Italy can lose to Costa Rica and Uruguay and I can't see Portugal making it.

That plane back home is filling up - Spain, England making reservations already, Portugal inquiring, Italy looking at flight schedules.

I have been impressed with the South American and Central American teams. Play with a lot of passion and are quick with the ball. This world cup seems to be a lot about Break and Defence, Uruguay last night!

England have waited a long time to play as well as the Spanish!!

and the mighty Belgians took the kremlin....wow....although game was a dismal affair with Russia missing an opportunity or 2....hazard will not play for Chelsea again I reckon teeheee

roll on round 2.....either Germany, usa, protugal or Ghana at this stage...group G really is a good one

So there were apparently some bets that did the rounds that Suarez would bite someone at WC. Do the cite players in soccer? I must say that I am a bit disappointed because the guy seems to be a heck of a worker on the field. I dont know what makes people do that sort of thing in "non-fight" situations. When my kid was at junior school there was a little girl who went around biting other kids. I know that the occasional South African rugby player has displays these tendencies.

So Greece, hey??? 8) well played to them!

But yeah what was Suarez thinking?? That was just plain idiotic of him...

I would have bet against my fellow greeks making it through to the last 16 (well done!) - but I'd never have thought to put $ on Saurez biting someone at the WC... :?

Hi guys

Sorry I haven't been participating here, it seems the thread shifted over to Facebook ? and I didn't think there was much interest here.

Wow, what a killer WC this is, one of the best I've ever watched.

Come talk kak on Facebook with us... ?

In hindsight, I wish I had placed a bet on Saurez biting someone this WC:

+1, Howard was at least worth 2 goals in that match - highly entertaining end 2 end stuff. I was hoping for another penalty shoot-out so he could win it for the US... ?

But Lukaku super subbed the result. Origi was a surprise for me, really dangerous player w/real pace. Alas, I think USA just didn't have the depth of talent that others teams do.

Dayum.....
