hey lady

i will be going to our leg of this years battle down here in CT ?. wish I could come up to your one and provide support ? .
    How does the voting work, crowd support?
      They appoint judges.
      And I am sure that good crowd reaction is something that the judges take into consideration.
        Yip.
        36 bands, 6 heats. {2 in Cape Town, 4 Joburg }
        9 finalists, 1 heat. { Rumours }
        Winner goes to Wacken.
          Awesome! Good luck ? Hopefully I'll be able to pull through.

            Winner gets a slot at Wacken, they have to sort out and pay their own way there from what I understand...

              Then whats the f&#$%g point ?
              Anything for a club to milk the bar sales on the night,
              for f@#% sake,isnt there a beverage sponsor,wholesale/retail music entity or something who can write the amount off on tax?
              the venue should at least contribute the profits after all expenses are paid on the night
              I mean,theres MK and Jaegermeister labels on the poster...or are they on there only to cover the poster costs...
              Are we still stuck in the 80's?

                If that's the case then it'll probably work out about 30k per member to go, so about 150k for the band to play at Wacken. In terms of experience it's awesome but not for much else. That budget could be used to record an amazing album and get exposure for relatively cheap on the web. Corporations milking it and not giving back - ahh, the good old capitalist system.
                  I'm not 100% sure that's the case (should of probably mentioned that) but it seems like it is based on what I heard.

                  In a way it's still a good deal, that is, if you were planning on going to play a gig on your own steam in Europe anyway, it beats playing some local club there.

                    Not a good deal to spend that type of cash for one gig, unless the dudes have rich parents and/or are spoilt brats
                    its only justifiable if a full Euro tour has allready been booked and the bonus would be if this event was won and then added the Wacken gig to their tour.
                    R150 000 is peanuts for regular music sponsors if they genuinely support local music,
                    And that may be the problem,they still do not see Metal as music.
                    Maybe Wacken itself should fork out the measly $15k and get the band there,
                      I'm fairly sure that the money made throughout the battles is put towards getting the band to Germany. That's how it was last year, at least.
