I've recently noticed a huge amount of activity around my house, in my garden and even in one or two spots in the house where these little devils are eating away,,,,,

Has anyone had a termite problem?
Have you tried to get rid of them DIY???
I just got off the phone after getting a quote (and blood pressure shot through the roof)
I was told it could cost anything from R8000 to R20 000 to get rid of them!!! I mean thats the price of a good guitar .....

I use pestiside called "Ant". Use 5ml for 2 liters and spray it directly into the nest. They will most likely be back in a few months and then do it again. I have no idea if the nest is killed or if they give up and just leave ?, but it works for me.

I'd be more worried about wood boring beetles - I once bought a thumb piano, and then realised it had a wood boring beetle - had to sort that out quickly!

I would recommend getting a spray gun (one of those that have the pump to build pressure in the tank)... Should be cheap(ish) and getting termite poison from your local hardware store or farm suppliers.
After youve used the poison on all their nests, you can maybe use diesel as well... Works well for killing weeds and tree stumps, so who knows...
