The seller said "It's cheap and nasty but it does the job" so I thought what the hell, let's take a look.

So basically will this help with recording my bass on the PC and allow me to use it directly into a PA? Wondering what else a DI is good for?

Since it can act as an attenuator, you can use it to tame a tube amp...

Yup. Exactly that.

Wondering what else a DI is good for?

Running long cables without signal loss. Converting jack to XLR to plug into a snake. Tone shaping (use passive DIs on electronic instruments to "round off" the sound, active DI's can add sparkle to passive instruments).

Helps with reducing hum on pedals. select the earth lift switch to on. Helped with some of my pedals, some not so good

Forgot to add that my DI works perfectly, we have 6 massive JBL bins on our PA and my bass rumbles through all of them and sooooooo cleaaaaar.
