My suggestion for a practice amp - Roland Cube 20x is my favourite, gives cleans with variety of easy to use, reasonable sounding effects. It's inexpensive and second hand are often found at Cash Crusader shops and the like.
For added flavour and the Fender sound I like, add a Tech 21 Blonde, or if you can't find any of the Tech 21 products, a Boss Bassman FBM-1, which seem to be readily available.
There you have full Fender sound in a small package at a low cost.

Get a Marshall JCM900 100 Watt head and two 4x12 Cabs. That's how I used to practise. In fact, it was the best practise amp I ever had. Worked quite well for gigging as well, so double-stack = double bonus.

li'l amp, all-valve pre and power, lovely tone, 1/4w, 1w, 4w, attenuator =
vox ac4tv. mine is in the classifieds (although i'm having second and even fiftieth thoughts about that, truth be told, so don't bother looking at the ad). can be had very reasonably second-hand in a combo and a head n cab version.
good luck with the search

Hey guys, thought i would jump in here, as a noob... So don't take anything I say as valuable just yet
I got a little orange crush with my little fender squier bullet as a startup... Which was cool, but I wanted more to play with while I learn and something to carry me through totally terrible gigging (open mics when no one is listening)
Then I went on a mission to find a new amp for my birthday, and made the choice of a mustang III V2 for the following reasons...
It's loud, like freaking, freaking loud for something I can easily pick up and put in the boot and take to my mates place... Or aim at my neighbors in the complex when they decide it's time to party on my pavement.... It's like a giant laser
The LCD screen on the III gives me more access to adjusting the presets without using my laptop and the fuse software, but this is all pretty in depth stuff that I'm just experimenting with right now
I liked the tone better than the Roland 80gx (the new model I hope that's the right model number) for my music taste... Personal, nothing more
I can go online and download presets for a certain artist/song and then compare that to another preset ... I think this helps with understanding effects for me and how amp response curves relate to to
It's pretty
That's my 2c

Lovely. Got a mid-80s MIJ '62 Custom Telecaster and it's a beaut. As far as amps are concerned, mine sounds great through an old Deluxe Reverb, but if I didn't have that I would run, not walk, to my nearest Fender dealer for a Pro Junior™ III, which is hands-down the best new small amp I've played for years and years.
It only has two knobs, but it has Tone in abundance, and twiddling those two knobs (together with the two on the guitar, of course) provides a remarkable level of variation.
Of course, if you like a *really* wide range of processed sounds it would be a stupid choice. But if you want a Tele to sound like a Tele (at least to my ears) should, then it's a magnificent amp. It's loud enough for a small room, and you can mic it up for anywhere bigger. And it won't damage your back on the way to the gig—unlike, say, the Quad Reverb I was once bonkers enough to buy.
(Note: not the Blues Junior, which is a totally different beast; not a bad amp, but more an amp for fiddling with in the bedroom—the Pro Junior is an amp you plug into on stage, forget about, and focus on playing that sweet guitar.)

Not sure, I thought the JD was given to "Jerry Donahue" Models although JD models don't have rosewood necks, although I could be mistaken. Does that have a v neck shape?
