Japan '62 Tele TL62B-BIGS on the way

Played around on a guitar long ago, and the bug has hit again. I have been messing with a ukulele for the past few years (Fender Koa Nohea Tenor), and i've just bought this on ebay from Japan and waiting for delivery...

Will take my own pics as soon as it's arrived. Any recommendations on a nice practice amp?

Great choice. EZ and I played an MIJ bigsby Telecaster in Bothners last year that was among the top 3 of about 12 Telecasters we played that day - including several MIAs.

Thanks for the replies guys! So far i'm looking at either the Fender Mustang 2, or Vox Valvetronix VT40+ as a practice amp. Any other suggestions?

Suggestion on amp? Test the Mustang, just make sure its a version 2.
Without going all out on a tube amp, or a Kemper or an AxeFX, this is probably the closest thing to getting many amps in one box.
Not to mention the technical wizardry included to change the many parameters to get the tone you want.

Test all the amps you can, and get the one you enjoy most ?

Nice guitar!! I am over the moon with mine as far as the quality, tone and playability goes. It's really smart too! If you don't enjoy yours then you may need to see your therapist ?

Regarding amps - what's wrong with a Roland Cube?? They seem to do a very reasonable job all round.

See this is pure myth. A tube amp no longer has to be 100W, be the size of a fridge, and cost R25,000. Many of the little tube amps cost not much more than a Mustang and will knock a digital box of tricks into a cocked hat.

I never said that either... but does the OP know what he is looking for in an amp?
If not, and he would prefer the modelling amp, why not let him?
I'm not a fan of the cub. Not that it isn't good, but I personally don't like the tone.
Its not the tone i have in my head. Maybe it wont be the OP's either.

Seriously? What's wrong with telling him to make sure he gets the latest version?
Then again, I'm not in a band, so what do i know right?

Other than the Mustang, maybe the Super Champ X2... There is one in the classifieds.. but new, it's nowhere near the price of the Mustang 2 if he isn't in the same area. Oh but wait, why go for the X2 when the normal super champ is around right? :-\

Guys, let's not get out of hand. OP asked for recommendations, so make yours and leave the whole modelling v valves for a thread on that very topic. Both have pros and cons and the op is better served by a recommendation with explanation for your choice than by a rapidly escalating flame war.

Personally, I usually recommend a Roland Cube of some variety (usually the Microcube). Bombproof, sounds good enough and offers a small variety of amp and effect tones that don't get overwhelming for the beginner player as well as helping them make the right choices when they do move up to the real thing.
