Hi Guys,

Myself and a friend are going to start a weekly jam, I have a small phonic 4 channel mixer/PA system which has a record out (RCA I think) channel.

We are going to be plugging in electronic drums and guitars (effect pedals/modellers) directly into the mixer and have earphones out for practice, it needs to be through earphones as kids are sleeping and all.

How would I be able to split the output signal into two for each of us to have the signal into earphones?

Do we need another mixer with multiple outputs? Or is there a cheaper option available to split the signal from the existing mixer?

The system I currently have is a small 4 channel mixer like this:

What would be the easiest and cost effective way of getting this setup?

Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to supply.
For two sets of phones, just get a double headphone adaptor so you can plug both pairs of cans into the headphone jack. Simple, cheap and effective.

Otherwise, if you need more outs or want to drive a whole headphone distribution system over a wider area, look at separate dedicated headphone amps (Samson has a good range that are also quite inexpensive). There are also whole systems like Jamhub that let each artist create their own personal mix of instruments.

That sounds pretty much like what I need. Thanks Alan!

Is it something I should be able to pickup at a place like Hi-Fi corp maybe?

        Yup.

        Looks like this:

Even Game and those kind of places have them.
Yeah, any Hi-fi, music or electronic shop should have them.

The pic above is the mini jack (3.5mm) though, you actually need the 1/4" (6.35mm) version.
Cool, but probably need one of these first...
