Hey guys.
I am trying to purchase a drum sander for my workshop and struggling with a lack of options.

Adendorff make a 16" drum sander that would probably just about meet all my needs, although I could really do with 18", stopping at 16" is just so annoying, because it's almost right there. And I know I can turn the stock and run it through on the other side to sand a 32" surface if I wanted to, but it would really just be nice to be able to do it easily, if I am going to invest.

Further, this Adendorf unit costs around R7500, whilst a comparable Jet one costs more than double that. Is adendorff quality up to scratch?
Jet make another sander that meets my needs, which is 22" wide, but the prices just shoot up and I'm not sure I can justify spending that rather than struggling with the adendorff one.

See, I expect my real best option would be to find someone who designs and builds these sorts of machines and have them build me one. the hardest part would be sourcing a suitable drum, but surely there are folks who make these things locally?

Does anyone have any contacts who do this sort of thing? In or around Cape town?

Try West Coast Machinery in Killarney Gardens, the owner is Robbie Everitt - 021 - 5573455
I have no affiliation to this company, so my name won't mean a thing to him. I bought a thicknesser/planer from them recently for a grand. It ''wuks'' like a bomb.
