It's on the horizon again - the last Thursday of the month is TJ's open mic night.
Where: The Press Club Bar, Marks Park, Emmarentia, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, Earth, near Moon, Space, near more Space
When: Music starts at 20:00 - but if you want to play then get there early (any time from 19:00) so you can pick the time slot you want.
Charge: R25 whether you're playing or not.
Sets are 15 minutes.
TJ's provide the PA. You need to bring your instruments (if you need such) - TJ's don't lend instruments out or arrange such loans.
No back tracks.
Regrettably time and size constraints make it difficult to handle the setting up of amplifiers and drum kits.
You can play covers or originals, songs or instrumentals. The core audience at TJ's is supportive and friendly.
You can bring banjos, zithers, flutes, penny whistles, harmonicas, fiddles, sitars, lutes, guitars (I don't think we've had a sitar or a zither, but we've had a lute). Or you can perform a cappella .
Food and drinks may be ordered from the Marks Park staff. There is plenty of off-street parking.
There will be no open mic night in December, so the October and November open mics are the last two for 2013.
