I have 2 days to decide which amp to get. I phoned A music shop that had a second hand TSL122 for R5 900 whereas a local music store has a DSL40C for a bit less than that. I play in a church band and need to carry my gear around 2-3 times a week. I want a tube amp but this will also be my first valve amp I'm buying. Any advice please?

It really depends on what you want to compromise on. The 122 will give you more backache but has a line out which can save time on setup. You will need to mic up the 40C for church use, but it is lighter. The 122 looks more versatile to me with its three channels and two separate effects loops, but you will find your way around the 40C faster.
Personally I would rather buy the larger amp and not have any illusions about playing either one of these at nice sounding volume at home. Keep in mind that you will want to buy a different solution for that later.
